We praise God for another month of beautiful harvest among the unreached in April. With your help, we had the privilege to sponsor three small discipleship camps for children, youth, and young adults. We’ll share more about those in the next letter—but for now, we want to discuss how God is using you to touch lives in May!
Opportunity: Shelter a Cambodian Believer for $30
Recently, I asked Rin, the pastor of Mercy Village Church, what needs he saw among his church members in the slums of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He responded:
“We work with poor children and families of all ages. In 2017, many families lost their homes in a fire, and the Lord used that to connect us. In 2018, I decided to follow God’s calling in my life—and by faith, I came here to live, love, and serve among them. Ever since then we’ve helped the village’s needy widows and elders. Right now, many are facing difficulties. If you’d like to support their rent, it costs $30 a month per family. The families would feel so blessed!”
By God’s grace and your help, we’ve decided to sponsor rent for five families from Rin’s church for $30 monthly. For most of us, $30 isn’t much to give. Many easily spend beyond that to dine out in the USA. But $30 is an enormous amount to these elderly, widowed, and single-parent followers of Jesus in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. A Successful Training for Persecuted Lao Leaders
Next, we want to thank you for sponsoring leadership training for fifteen pastors from unreached Laos! We recently received a message from David, the leader of our partner ministry throughout Southeast Asia. He wrote:
“For the past four years, many of our leaders haven’t been able to attend our leadership training. Authorities had confiscated their ID cards and passports, and they couldn’t travel from Laos to Thailand. Pastor S. and I have it in our hearts to train these pastors. We plan to gather fifteen of them from April 30th to May 2nd for a time of teaching.
Because of persecution, we can’t host the training in _______ Province where most of them work. Instead, we’ll train them at _______ Province at a ministry that Message Ministries supports.
The leaders will stay at a nearby hotel and visit the ministry location for the training sessions. Please be in prayer for this gathering.”
Our donors fully sponsored this retreat, blessing these fifteen Laotian ministers beyond measure. These precious pastors and evangelists were so encouraged, refreshed, and revived by the three days of teaching, worship, prayer, and fellowship! And they gathered safely and without hindrance—a wonderful blessing since Laos is the twenty-first most persecuted nation in the world (per Open Doors).
