Last Saturday, March 16, 2019, the Piedras Gordas Neighborhood celebrated the eighth anniversary of Nueva Vida Church, pastored by Dionisio Amaya, 76.
In March 2011, God gave Pastor Dionisio a disturbing dream of a neighborhood overrun by fires, calling for help, and needing Jesus. Early that morning, his prophetic dream came true. When he awoke, he turned on the television to learn terrible news: ravenous fires had swept through Piedras Gordas, Ancon, consuming homes and leaving poor families empty handed and hopeless.
Dionisio quickly understood that God was calling him to act, and went immediately to minister to the victims. He soon planted a children’s ministry in Piedras Gordas and has ministered there every week since. Today, about 60 children visit every week to hear God’s Word and share a healthy meal.
This Saturday was the eighth anniversary of Dionisio’s ministry in Piedras Gordas. Children from around the neighborhood gathered to celebrate Dionisio’s ministry, hear God’s Word, enjoy a presentation from an evangelistic clown, and eat a celebration cake. What a joyous celebration!
